Beginner Photographer Common mistakes To Avoid

Beginner Photographer Common mistakes To Avoid

This tutorial is brought to you by photographer overnight.

Today we're going to talk about common mistakes to avoid as a beginner photographer.

Photography is always a learning process you've got to constantly be trying to improve your work and make it better.

If you're stay tune in this blog, you're already on the right track and trying to improve your work
By gaining tutorials from the beginning of my photography career.

I was constantly educating myself about how to improve whether it was

learning more  about using my camera are

learning how to improve pictures with programs like Photoshop and light room

looking over some of my old work and comparing it with my recent stuff really makes me
realize just how far I've come
and I'm sure if you have been in photography for a while you'll notice the same thing so i want to share with you a few of the biggest mistakes I made as a beginner.

So you can avoid making them and also share the most important things i learned along the way that have improved my photography by leaps and bounds when I was just starting out.
I would get going in a photo session and forget to change my exposure when the Sun came out from behind a cloud or when we went into a shade of your area.
If you're shooting like this you'll know what I'm talking about

You'll think you're getting awesome shots and then...

You'll realize there goes the last  images when you get home you end up losing a good portion of the pictures to under over exposure and sometimes trying to save them
because you think they're good

And it doesn't really work

There are three huge things you can do to avoid this problem

First
It took a lot of reminding myself to make a mental note
'Every time the lighting changed so i could change with it and regularly check your images after you take them to see if you need to make a change'
The next thing you can do is slow down a lot of beginning

Photographers really know how to pose people so they spend more time just snapping pictures and hoping they'll get some good ones by the sheer quantity from the session.

Take the time to frame your image so that it looks good and pause to tell your subject to do something differently

If it's not quite working
Learn posing tricks from as many sources as you can, and check out other photographers work
to get some ideas you'll find some posing cards at photographer forum
Most often
You'll have subjects who have no idea how to those and aren't going to give you good candidates by just standing there
Learning how to pose them even if you're faking a candidate

Pose will increase the amount of good photos you have to work with
This will also save you from having thousands of wasted images and the wear and tear on your camera will be so much less when you take the time to get a good image in your frame
rather than clicking like crazy.

And finally the most important improvement you'll ever make is to start shooting your images in raw format.

If you're shooting and jpeg you probably want to ignore this advice because it seems so much easier to just keep doing what you're doing and learning a whole new format and having to figure out the whole raw editing process sounds totally overwhelming

But

I can honestly tell you that this was the number one change that improve my wedding photography

And yes I was dragging my feet about switching over but the difference is completely amazing

let's take a batch of images for example

If you have taken these images in jpeg you either have to throw them all away or try to brighten them with Photoshop and have a really grainy final product.

If you take in this same batch of images in raw format you'd be able to change the exposure in such a large spectrum.

You hardly ever have a lighting change big enough to make you lose your images.

So there are some really important things you can do to improve your portrait sessions number

Number one
Pay attention to lighting changes and always check your images after you shoot

Number two
Slow down and frame your image properly

Number three
Learn how to pose your subjects and

Number four
Take the jump and learn to shoot in raw

Digital Photography Tips ; THE RIGHT TIME TO CHOOSE IDEAL PROGRAMED MODE ON YOUR CAMERA

This article are presented for a beginner and moderate photographer. for beginner of course this is new information and for moderate or intermediate, this articles are for discussion and regulate the perception in the topic of THE RIGHT TIME TO CHOOSE IDEAL PROGRAMMED MODE ON YOUR CAMERA.
Almost in all type of digital camera, even it a compact camera or digital SLR camera has always offering four exposure mode option plus one full automatic mode option (commonly marked with green box symbol) where the camera will arrange everything for the best result in the parameter of censor even likely it is different with what we wanted. that why we have to choose exposure programmed mode that most ideal with our needs. so when is the right time to choose an ideal programmed mode?

READ ALSO: History of Camera from Obscura to DSLR (Do you sure you know?)

As mentioned above, there are for programmed mod beside the fully automatic mode.
  • P program mode
  • A program mode
  • S program mode
  • M program mode
When we have to choose P program mode?
on the P program mode, camera will take the most ideal combination in determination of the camera parameter between Shutter speed and diaphragm to gain the best of image quality result in more than 90% of shooting condition. only in the extreme condition such as back-lighting subject, totally black or white background that we need a little of intervention such as giving an exposure compensation. all can be set in P program mode. in all latest digital camera already have shift mode wee adjust the shutter combination -exposure are set by camera such as we choose diaphragm opening in f.2.8 or f.4 in model photo session.so the background shown more soft or we can choose diaphragm in f.11 or even f.16 to gain a wider focus range in landscape photography. P program mode is the option if we want to take a picture but did not want to be annoying by any of camera control setting but requiring a consistent superfine image result.

When we have to choose P program mode?
Even the camera still control major of exposure value, as a photographer we are expected to choose diaphragm option in A program mode or called Av (Aperture value) mode.  As the explanation above, diaphragm setting is determine the depth of field outcome of our picture. That is why we have to select diaphragm value to get the final result of our picture as we wanted. Wide opening of diaphragm is to gain image with a narrow focus area or narrow depth of field, and small opening to gain a wide focus area or wider depth of field. I used to use A program mode when i need to control how is the final photo views are looks like.

When we have to choose S program mode?
S program mode is about control your shutter speed. this mode are likely chooses in the sport photography where the photographer requiring a sharp image result at all the time. in example if we are required to freeze high speed object you will require high shutter speed around f.1/500 or above. S program mode also used for taking a photo of waterfall where the photographer need a motion image result (panning technique).   in this mode, our shutter speed are set in f.1/10 to f.1/50 to gain motion images.
In S program mode, we are control shutter speed and other parameter will be arrange by the camera to gain the most ideal exposure of image result.
Things to note in this mode is the shutter speed limits that we use are at highest aperture diaphragm limits of our camera. in example, in one condition our diaphragm of camera limit is f.2.8 in 1/600 of shutter speed, it is mean the maximum shutter speed that we set is under the value or equal to the maximum speed limit.

When we have to choose M program mode?
this mode is fully manual mode, this option chooses if you need to have a control of all parameter and control in the camera. Usually, M program mode used in the studio photo session where all things are steady and fixed. including shutter speed and diaphragm are set fixed.

notes:
In the photography, all theory is just a method of approach. and in this article, this is just a theory which described the approach most commonly used. still needed exploration of its own by the photographer to get a sense in determining the most appropriate settings for yourself. keep doing exploration and experimentation to hone your ability to do this hobby. because without trial and experience, photography that you do it will mean nothing.

Digital Photography Accessories: KIT Lens

Digital Photography Accessories: KIT Lens

Kit is a factory defaults lens that you get when you buy a Digital SLR camera body or  Digital mirrorless Camera body. KIT lens also referred to as normal lens or standard Focal length. the focal length in KIT lens is equal to image diagonal dimension projected into the camera censor. one of the advantage of this type of lenses is this lens resulting images with the most natural perspective when compared with another type of lens. This KIT lens  will produce image which does not differ much from what is the eyes of photographer seeing. these kind of perspective mapping gained from distance between focal length equal to the focal area to the 53 degrees of diagonal viewpoint.
Some of the advantages and disadvantages possessed by a lens KIT is:

Advantages
Simple and light
Plastic material and small design make this KIT Lens simple and light to carry.
Lowest Prices
For a Digital SLR camera, KIT lenses is the most lowest price lenses. but even it so, it doesn't mean become twopenny lenses.  KIT lenses is the most produced lens,  caused this lens is commonly bundled with Digital SLR bodies. that is means, more production number equal to  less expensive production costs, didn't?
Blurring (Bokeh)
Even this lens had limited aperture, it has better blurring (bokeh)
Good for low key capture
Normally KIT lens had small aperture limits (f/32), its means you can make good Low key Photography.
Flexible focal length
In range of 18-55mm focal length makes this lens are flexible to adjust the vocal length.
Sharp image
when you take landscape, or even portrait. this lens have a good focus. when you are set the aperture to 5.6, usually you can have maximum images sharpness.

Disadvantages
Limited focal length
yes, commonly the focal length of this KIT lens is 18-55mm. i give an examples. someone standing in outside boarder of lion cage in the zoo, distance between outside boarder into the cage is 10 meters. then you are using KIT lens with focal length 18-55mm. it would be difficult to take closeup images, even in maximum focal length and the lion stay in the nearest fence of cage.
Less robust material structure
This kind of lens is commonly designed small and simple. unfortunately they are not accompanied by the provision of better materials. at this point, lot of lenses is only made with plastics and rubber that can be easily stretched.
Noisy auto-focus system
Not all KIT lens had a noisy auto focus system, but in common. yes they are bundled with noisy auto-focus system.
Limited macro photography capturing
KIT lens can be used to take a macro capture, but you have to remember, KIT Lens are not design for macro capture.
Limited Aperture
normally, the aperture of KIT lens  is maximum 3.5 in 18mm focal length and 5.6 in 55mm focal length.

One things to remember: photography is about The Man Behind The Camera, all stuff is just tools to help you get what do you want. focus on your sense of capturing image and keep practicing.

Common definition of lens is a devices used to organize, process, focusing and deliver the light from an object into the camera to became an image.
there are three different ring are placed as a regulator. first ring is focal length places in front of lens who had different variant between lens. Second is diaphragm ring that control image capture of the lenses. the third is focusing ring, its function is to regulate the sharpness distances of focus on the lens, or better known as the depth of field. The conclusion is, Focal length function serves as a spacer magnification object, diaphragm is like the pupil of the eye to arrange incoming light trough the camera, and depth of field to conclusion the lens sharpness distance on the image.
Lens is the most important part which has the most influence on the outcome of an image. the quality of lens has the most influence on the quality of image.
